Painshill Park is set in 160 acres and dates back to the 18th century. Activities for both adults and children, with park trails for children and families, and historic sights to see such as The Gothic Temple, Ruined Abbey, Chinese Bridge, Crystal Grotto and Giant Waterwheel.

Kempton racecourse holds jump and flat races throughout the year, but for something a little different, around twice a month on a  Wednesday night they hold race evenings and afterwards either hold a disco or have a band playing.  The flagship race of the course is the annual King George VI Steeplechase on Boxing Day.  In addition to the Wednesday night meetings, Kempton holds race meetings at least once a month.

Hampton Court Palace was built by Thomas Wolsey between 1515-1521, but was later forced to hand over the palace to Henry VIII, after falling from favour with the King.  Henry VIII went on to overhaul the Tudor sections of the Palace, and later William III added further wings.  Hampton Court Palace is steeped in history, and the gardens hold the world famous Maze.

Courtly Love & Romance, Half Term 11th - 19th February. It is February 1544. While King Henry VIII is away preparing for war with France, Queen Kateryn Parr presides at Hampton Court. In this week of St Valentine’s Day, can she reconcile a quarrelling couple, and bring happiness to a troubled Royal lady? Young visitors new to court will also be able to learn the essential skills needed for would-be courtiers from members of the royal household, with Knight School for the young gentlemen on the East Front and the Art of Dancing in the Great Hall for the young ladies.

Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, Sussex, PO18, 01243 811363

Open-air museum of fifty rebuilt historic buildings dating from the 13th to the 19th century, situated within 50 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside.  The buildings were rescued from destruction, dismantled, and then rebuilt. Exhibits include a timber framed farmhouse, market hall, Victorian school and medieval shop.  Regular demonstrations and people to talk to about how residents of the properties once lived.

Crafts Week Half Term Children's Activities 13th-17th February. Put on your winter woollies and wellies, go to the Museum and warm up with a week of creative activities and countryside skills: outdoor trails, arts, crafts and ideas to inspire accompanied children of all ages. Under cover if wet.
