| South Downs Way National Trail, Winchester (Hants) to Eastbourne (Sussex), 01243 558716
The South Downs Way National Trail covers 100 miles of Southern England from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in Sussex. Walkers, cyclists and horse riders can see beautiful countryside along with way including spectacular views, wildlife, pretty villages and pubs! If you were to do the whole 100 mile route is would take on average eight days to walk and three days to cycle! Highlights of the trail include Winchester Cathedral, Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Parham Deer Park, Chanctonbury Ring, Dew Ponds, Adur Valley, Devils Dyke, Ditchling Beacon, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age monuments, Long Man of Wilmington, Ouse valley, Cuckmere Haven, Seven Sisters, Beachy Head, blue butterflies, and the highest point of the walk is 270m (900ft) at Butser Hill in Hampshire.

Seven Sisters Country Park is in an area of outstanding natural beauty covering 280 acres of Sussex Downs. Chalk cliffs, a winding river valley and open grassland make this a popular park for outdoor activities. The park offers spectacular views of Seven Sister Cliffs, Seaford Head and Cuckmere Haven and walkers on the shore walks can find out about the shipwrecks that have occurred along the coastline. The Park is a working farm and visitors can see grazing sheep and cattle. There are no bridleways in the Park but cyclists are permitted on the valley floor and there are bridleways and cycle routes outside the park. Cycle hire is available. The South Downs Way National Trail, which stretches for 100 miles from Eastbourne to Winchester, passes through the Country Park.

| Southwater Country Park, Southwater, West Sussex, 01403 731218
Southwater Country Park covers 70 acres of Sussex countryside, with three lakes, an adjacent cycle and horse riding bridleway, orienteering course for which maps are available from the Warden’s office, adventure play area and canoeing, sailing and windsurfing tuition on the lake. Dogs are welcome at the park but must be kept on leads between April – September. The reed beds, grasslands and mature woodland are home to various wildlife species.

Today it is the International Study Centre, part of Queen’s University, Canada. | The South Downs National Park, Southern England (East Hants & Sussex), 01243 558700
In March 2009 the South Downs was given the go ahead to become a National Park in recognition of its special qualities in terms of natural beauty and opportunities for open-air recreation and making it the 10th National Park in England. The South Downs National Park will cover 99% of the land currently designated as Areas of Outstanding National Beauty. The National Park will eventually be managed by the National Park Authority but during the period of transition will be looked after by the South Downs Joint Committee. The South Downs National Park will stretch from Winchester, East Hampshire to Eastbourne in Sussex with spectacular scenery, walks, cycle rides, horseriding, golf courses, hang gliding, paragliding and places to eat and drink.

Bentley Wildlife & Motor Museum has a bit of everything with a Palladian mansion, gardens, 23 acres of woodlands, wildlife reserve, motor museum, craft workers, tea rooms, miniature steam railway and children's playground. The landscaped gardens are created into rooms; the wildlife reserve has 125 species of wildfowl; vintage and classic cars on display in the Motor Museum; play area with rope walks and tree platforms.
